Codes used in Cell Phone

Phone is equipped with one or more codes to protect it against unauthorized use. The following are the important codes used in cell phone.

Security Code:

The security code (5 to 10 digits) helps to protect your phone against unauthorized use. If you give the wrong code 5 times before to give the correct code, your cellular phone will not access the correct code for five minutes.  For example, the preset code for Nokia 6060 is 12345.

Pin Code :

PIN is the abbreviation of "Personal Identification Number". This code is helpful to protect the SIM card. This is the most common code, which you set yourself and can activate and inactivate yourself. If the PIN code is entered incorrectly three times, your phone may request a PUK (Personal Unblocking Key) code. Suppose pin code is enabling, anytime you must enter the pin code when you switch on the phone.

Pin 2 Code :

The PIN2 code is a PIN code that acts as a second layer of protection for certain features of your phone. It functions in the same way as the PIN code. If you don't know your PIN2 code don't try to change this code because if your give in the wrong code 3 times your cellular phone will block and you can't use any services on it anymore. When this happens you need your PUK code. When you want to change your PIN2 code you can do this in the menu "security" of your cellular phone most of the time.

Remember, if you have entered pin codes mistakenly wrong and now your phone is asking for PUK2 code, don't enter any number, just call your customer care and get your PUK code, unless your SIM may be rejected.

PUK Code :

The personal unblocking key (PUK) code and the universal personal unblocking key (UPUK) code (8 digits) are required to change a blocked PIN code and UPIN code, respectively. If you give the wrong PUK code 10 times, your cellular phone will block. If the codes are not supplied with the SIM card, contact your local service provider for the codes.

PUK 2 Code :

The PUK2 code (8 digits) is required to correct the blocked SIM cards. If you give the wrong PUK2 code 10 times, you will have to obtain a new SIM card from your operator or service provider.

Barring Password:

The barring password (4 digits) is required when using the barring service such as Call Waiting, Call Divert and Call Barring Options.
